BORN AGAIN

Day 1 – Who He Says I Am Series

Born Again

“For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God.” – 1 Peter 1:23 (NLT)

In Christ –

YOU ARE BORN AGAIN!

Do you remember the day you were born? Probably not. And just as hard to understand is the idea of being born again. His Word tells us that when we place our faith in Christ, our old self, the sinful one, died and we are now raised to new life in Christ. Spiritually we have been born again. Or maybe we should say, truly born into the Life that is Christ Himself. Every part of His DNA is placed in you. Even though we all continue to fall short, you are no longer enslaved to sin. Sin is no longer your master.

Years ago I worked as a gifted resource teacher split between two different elementary schools. At one school I worked under the dream administration. Both the principal and vice principal were so empowering. They trusted each of us to do our jobs and gave us the freedom to do it. Unfortunately, the principal at the other school was completely opposite. It was a very micromanaging environment where every move and decision was scrutinized and analyzed. This was the principal’s behavior from day one. If you even passed her in the hallway, as a grown adult, you had to give an explanation for where you were going – to the lunchroom, to check your mailbox, even to the bathroom. It was so demeaning. Looking back, I can call it what it was – a power play of control. She wanted you to know that she was your master. The last day of school, the last day that I worked for her, I had cleaned out my room and was ready to say goodbye and good riddance to that environment. I stepped into the hallway for the last time and when she stood in front of me to get me to ask for her permission to take my next step, I simply told her goodbye and stepped around her with my head and shoulders a little higher at the realization that she was no longer my master.  I had been set free. This is what happens when you place your faith in Christ. He sets you free. Sin is no longer your master. Next time you feel sin trying to dictate your life, simply recognize that you have the power to say goodbye and walk on ahead in your new identity of righteousness. You live by faith now and are empowered by His strength. You no longer have your old desires. Your new desires come from the very heart of Christ and as we fix our eyes on Him and His fruits, the good works of His Spirit are on full display. Rest with your eyes on Him and watch how He will work through you today because you have been born again. New and Whole forever.

BORN AGAIN – is your IDENTITY!

Daily Reminder

You don’t have to work to be Born Again, you already are Born Again because Christ gave you a new identity. His identity. This is who you are because of who He is, not who you have to try to become.

– Religion tells us what to do to become, which equals self reliance – the focus is on self.

– The truth of the Gospel tells us who we are because of who Jesus is and what He did – the focus is on Jesus.

Good News  – Our Father in heaven is pleased with you because of what Jesus did – it all hinges on Him not us.

We are in union with Christ (1 Corinthians 6:17). When our Daddy in heaven looks at you, He sees Jesus, and He is nothing but pleased. (Matthew 3:17)

Rest in Him today.

Lord God,

Thank You for making me new and whole forever. Thank You for giving me a new identity. When my eyes get distracted today, when I forget that I have been born again into a new life and revert to my old ways of thinking, remind me that I lack nothing in You. You are my source. My source of Life. Thank You Jesus!
