DELIVERED

Day 3 – Who He Says I Am Series

“He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son”

– Colossians 1:13 (ESV)

In Christ –

YOU ARE DELIVERED

Delivered. Moved. Rescued. Pulled Out Of. Transported. These are words that come to mind when I envision something/someone being delivered. Labor also comes to mind, as in Labor and Delivery. I have experienced this 3 miraculous times. I labored and the doctor delivered. Each of my babies, the ones being delivered, didn’t do the delivering…they were receiving the delivery. Notice the syntax of Colossians 1:13, “He has delivered us…” If you’ve studied grammar recently, you may notice that the word us is a direct object in this clause. The direct object receives the action of being delivered. The object doesn’t do the action. The subject (Daddy God) does the action. This means that the direct object (us) simply receives the deliverance. We are the object of His affection and His deliverance. Pause and take a deep breath recognizing that you have been delivered. We couldn’t deliver ourselves. We were in need of a Deliverer. You have been rescued, liberated, and set free. Like a package that has been taken from one place to somewhere new, you have been delivered. Like the Hebrews who had been enslaved for 400 years in Egypt and God, through Moses, delivered them from their bondage, Jesus our Deliverer, delivered us from our bondage of sin. He took us from a life lived in pain, darkness, emptiness, shame, guilt, and condemnation and He delivered us to a place where we are reconciled to our Father. To our Creator. To our Daddy God. He is at peace with us. Maybe you have been rescued long ago, but you feel trapped and helpless today. Take a moment to fix your eyes on Jesus. Do you see His love for you? Do you see the cross that He endured on your behalf? On the cross Jesus uttered the words, “Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:34) Those words were not only uttered about the men who drove the nails into His hands that day, but for every man and woman whose sin put Him there. Those words are for you and for me. We know that there is “therefore now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1). If you are feeling condemned today, if you are experiencing shame or pain, remember the cross. Drink from the Cup and eat from the Bread in remembrance of Him. Celebrate that you have been delivered and watch as the shackles of the enemies’ lies break away. You will dance freedom’s dance today as you rest in the truth that you truly are delivered.

DELIVERED – is your Identity!

Daily Reminder

You don’t have to work to be Delivered, you already are Delivered because Christ gave you a new identity. His identity. This is who you are because of who He is, not who you have to try to become.

– Religion tells us what to do to become, which equals self reliance – the focus is on self.

– The truth of the Gospel tells us who we are because of who Jesus is and what He did – the focus is on Jesus.

Good News  – Our Father in heaven is pleased with you because of what Jesus did – it all hinges on Him not us.

We are in union with Christ (1 Corinthians 6:17). When our Daddy in heaven looks at you, He sees Jesus, and He is nothing but pleased. (Matthew 3:17)

Rest in Him today.

Father God,

Thank You for delivering me. For taking me from one place and putting me in a better place with You. I know that this power in You will deliver me from any struggle I face today as well. You are my Deliverer and I rest safely in You. Thank You Jesus!
