Day 5 – Who He Says I Am Series

“and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of His holy people in the kingdom of light.”

– Colossians 1:12

In Christ – 

YOU ARE QUALIFIED

His work on the cross, qualified you.

There have been tasks throughout my life that I have been qualified for through work and experience that I have achieved, but there have been far more jobs or opportunities for which I have lacked the proper qualifications. Maybe you can relate. You sit down to your computer to pull up a job search site and see all these incredible opportunities. There are things you’d like to do, but your resume simply seems to come up short. Many of us spend a large part of our lives feeling this way – less than, not good enough, unqualified. In the spiritual realm we would certainly fit this description. In the presence of a holy God, we are completely unqualified. All the trying, striving, and good deeds are still merely “filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6).  Only Jesus lived a perfect life. His resume qualifies Him for righteousness, holiness, and blamelessness. Our spiritual resume is quite the opposite. We were completely unqualified for the presence of a holy God. But the miracle of God’s love for us is that He gave us Jesus. Jesus is our proxy. On your behalf, Jesus came to earth. On your behalf, Jesus lived a sinless life. On your behalf, Jesus went to the cross. On your behalf, Jesus paid for every sin you have ever committed and ever will commit. On your behalf, Jesus rose to life again. On your behalf, Jesus is seated today at the right hand of the Father interceding for you. Today, you need to lift your head. You have been freely given the resume of Jesus. If you have placed your faith in Christ, then your spiritual resume has been nailed to a cross and you have received Jesus’ resume in return. In Christ, you are holy, righteous, and redeemed. Qualified in the sight of God. Qualified to have a bold, free, authentic relationship with your Heavenly Father. Qualified to overcome whatever obstacles might be placed in your way. Qualified to not be viewed by your past or your sin, but to be viewed through His life and resurrection. You are qualified because of Jesus.

QUALIFIED – is your Identity! 

Daily Reminder

You don’t have to work to be Qualified, you already are Qualified because Christ gave you a new identity. His identity. This is who you are because of who He is, not who you have to try to become.

– Religion tells us what to do to become, which equals self reliance – the focus is on self.

– The truth of the Gospel tells us who we are because of who Jesus is and what He did – the focus is on Jesus.

Good News  – Our Father in heaven is pleased with you because of what Jesus did – it all hinges on Him not us.

We are in union with Christ (1 Corinthians 6:17). When our Daddy in heaven looks at you, He sees Jesus, and He is nothing but pleased. (Matthew 3:17)

Rest in Him today.

Father God,

Thank You for qualifying me. Thank You for giving me Your righteousness in exchange for my sin. Today I will walk in the identity I have been given and whatever obstacles are placed in my way, I will look to Your guidance knowing You have qualified me for it. Thank You Jesus!

I must admit that I am a bit of an enigma: a half-Italian Alabama native who hosts giant groups of friends and family every chance I get, but will also sneak away to a private corner to read a good book or journal my latest thoughts. I desperately want people to see Him for who He really is and not all the attachments that religion has put on Him. I long for people, believers and unbelievers alike, to understand the Truth - the uncensored, un-manipulated Truth of the Gospel. Because of the blood of Jesus, the Life He gave on the Cross, we are unconditionally loved by the Father and once we place our faith in Jesus, we are forever in right standing with God. It is the power of the finished work of the Cross. I am in awe and live to proclaim- Thank You Jesus! Come along with me as we Journey to Grace Land!
