HIGHLY VALUED

Day 10 – Who He Says I Am Series

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16

In Christ –

YOU ARE HIGHLY VALUED

Understanding the real estate market is always interesting to me. In a seller’s market, houses are purchased for much higher than what it actually costs to build a house with the same materials. In a buyer’s market it is just the opposite. Houses are sold below market cost. We know that this is due to supply and demand. When the supply is low, the demand is high and therefore the price is high which gives us a seller’s market. When the supply is high, the demand is low causing the price to be low, giving us a buyer’s market. Simply economics principles, right? Even still, it’s pretty astonishing to watch when a house sells for much higher than its actual perceived value. Having been a realtor, I have seen people pay exceedingly and excessively over the actual listing price of a home during a seller’s market. Potential buyers compete and offer bids that a bank would never even cover the cost of. This means the buyer would have to come up with the extra funds out of their own pocket. Out of a deep desire for the specific house, buyers determine what sacrifice is worth it to them, to purchase the house. This proves that the value of anything isn’t determined by objective reasoning, but that the value of something is subject to the worth placed on it, by its purchaser. In other words, the value of anything is simply the amount someone is willing to pay for it. Did you know that you have a specific value? Did you realize that you have been paid for? You have been bought with a price. Even though you have already been purchased, I want you to imagine that there is a price tag that has been placed on you. There are probably days when you feel like that price tag would be quite low. Maybe lower than others around you. But that’s not what God says about you. If you feel worthless or invaluable, then you are listening to toxic voices. Maybe these voices are your own or maybe they are from unhealthy relationships, but these voices are not what the God of the universe says about you. He doesn’t think that about you. He placed a price tag on you that was the most precious thing He could ever pay. What does your Daddy God say is your price? – The life of Jesus. The innocent life of His only begotten Son. You are so valuable to God that you are worth Christ dying for you. Unlike houses which have a commodity value – meaning, if they deteriorate, the value goes down, you have a fiat value to God. In a conversation with my son, Kamden, while he was taking Macroeconomics, he related the difference between commodity and fiat values to the difference in how human love is different from God’s love. In his mini lesson to me, he described how fiat value is different from commodity value. Commodity value changes based on conditions. But God’s unconditional love towards you means that your value is stable to Him because His love and character is stable and will never change toward you under any condition. In basic Economics, fiat value is not intrinsic and therefore cannot deteriorate. Fiat value is simply based on the declaration of a certain value, period. No matter how you feel from day to day, you are not – and you never will be, worthless or invaluable. Because of God’s incredible love for you, your value is higher than any amount of riches or currency. All His thoughts toward you are holy and you are highly valued. HIGHLY VALUED – is your Identity!

Daily Reminder

You don’t have to work to be Highly Valued, you already are Highly Valued because Christ gave you a new identity. His identity. This is who you are because of who He is, not who you have to try to become.

– Religion tells us what to do to become, which equals self reliance – the focus is on self.

– The truth of the Gospel tells us who we are because of who Jesus is and what He did – the focus is on Jesus.

Good News  – Our Father in heaven is pleased with you because of what Jesus did – it all hinges on Him not us.

We are in union with Christ (1 Corinthians 6:17). When our Daddy in heaven looks at you, He sees Jesus, and He is nothing but pleased. (Matthew 3:17)

Rest in Him today.

Lord God,

Thank You for valuing me. Thank You that no matter what I do, Your love toward me doesn’t change because Your love for me is based on Your character not mine. Your love is so abundant it’s hard for my human brain to understand sometimes. Help me to feel the embrace of Your incredible love as I go throughout this day. Thank You Jesus!
