CHOSEN

Day 12 – Who He Says I Am Series

“For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight.”

– Ephesians 1:4

In Christ –

YOU ARE CHOSEN

He selected you as the best and most appropriate choice to be the recipient of His abundant love and unmerited grace before the world was even made.

Have you ever thought about the word choice? Choice means that there were other options.  Choice means that one was selected out of other possibilities.  We make choices all the time.  We start making choices from a very young age.  As we grow and mature, we learn to make choices that are wise over choices that are unwise.  We learn to weigh out the possible outcomes.  We learn to assess the value and its importance to us.  This is what God did when He chose you.  God is good and wise.  He didn’t have to mature and grow into it. He always has been and He always is.  Before the foundation of the world He had many other options and possibilities, but in His great wisdom and unfathomable love, He chose you and me.  He chose to create you and out of selflessness and love, He gave you a free will.  He knew that this free will would sometimes choose wrongly. This free will would at times choose to sin.  He knew that being a holy God, He and sin cannot coexist, so He, the godhead, chose to become the sacrifice that would pay for all the sin of the world and reconcile His creation back to Himself.  He chose the plan, He chose the sacrifice, He chose Love.  Out of love, He chose you.  There were other options and other possibilities.  He didn’t have to choose you.  He wasn’t forced. He didn’t do it begrudgingly. No, He chose you joyfully. He chose you excitedly. He chose you longingly.  Like a bridegroom standing at the altar, He desires nothing more than His sought after bride. Jesus is the bridegroom and He has chosen you as His bride.  He has selected you as the object of His affection.  You have been chosen. God demonstrated His own love for you, that while you were still a sinner (Romans 5:8), with every self evident and visible flaw that blocks the mind from understanding why, Christ died for you. In dying, He made you flawless.  Hear His soft whisper to you today, “You are altogether beautiful, My darling; there is no flaw or blemish in you.” (Song of Solomon 4:7).  Receive these words from your adoring bridegroom today and know that you have been chosen by God.

CHOSEN – is your Identity!

Daily Reminder

You don’t have to work to be Chosen, you already are Chosen because Christ gave you a new identity. His identity. This is who you are because of who He is, not who you have to try to become.

– Religion tells us what to do to become, which equals self reliance – the focus is on self.

– The truth of the Gospel tells us who we are because of who Jesus is and what He did – the focus is on Jesus.

Good News  – Our Father in heaven is pleased with you because of what Jesus did – it all hinges on Him not us.

We are in union with Christ (1 Corinthians 6:17). When our Daddy in heaven looks at you, He sees Jesus, and He is nothing but pleased. (Matthew 3:17)

Rest in Him today.

God of Grace,

Thank You for choosing me. Out of all the possibilities and options, thank You for wanting me. When I see myself in my earthly condition, I can’t understand why You would choose me, but I’m so thankful that through the blood of Jesus, You see me as flawless and without blemish. Help me to see me how You see me. Thank You Jesus!
