Day 27 – Who He Says I Am Series

“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

– Romans 5:8

In Christ – 

YOU ARE LOVED UNCONDITIONALLY

The word love is often overused – or used in various casual contexts. Some people say, “I love tacos,” or “I love green,” or “I love bubble baths.” But the only way to truly experience love is in relationships. I have found that most relationships resemble two way streets. Both friendships and romantic relationships go two ways. They simply don’t work if just one sided. If just one party made all the effort, that person would end up feeling undervalued and even taken advantage of.  A friendship or a romantic relationship must go two ways for both people to receive fulfillment. 

Because we all have experienced two way love, that is what we best understand. But there is a love that is one sided. Because it is one way, we have a harder time understanding it. It’s foreign to us. It’s not transactional. It’s not the way of the world. This love only gives and doesn’t require anything in return. This love is whole. This love is pure. This love is selfless and sacrificial. This love is a refuge and safe haven. This love – is the love of God, our Heavenly Father. His love doesn’t require anything of us. His love is pure. His love is vulnerable. He bestows oftentimes without receiving anything back and will never receive to the level that He has given.

This is a love we don’t and can’t fully understand. Because of this, some reject it altogether. While others receive it and try desperately to prove or provide ways to earn it. Very few learn to rest and bask in it, letting it wash in and through and over every part of who they are. Those are the rare people we meet who don’t require anything from people around them. They radiate love and blessing and kindness in their very demeanor. These are the ones who have experienced and ingested this incredible one way love. Of course these same people can’t help but love God back and love others as a result, but they know it’s not required or measured. They know the secret – that one way love is a love that when received changes your very DNA from the inside out. This love is the work of Christ in our lives. The revelation of the fullness of the cross and Christ’s finished work. We have nothing to prove, nothing to earn, and nothing to lose. This is unconditional love.

While we were at our darkest, in our deepest sin, God not only declared His love for us but He demonstrated that love. A demonstration that defined history. A demonstration that proved that His love for us is not based on what we do or don’t do. A demonstration that proves that His love is based on His character – not ours.  At your darkest, He died for you. In the middle of your sin, He demonstrated His love for you. (Romans 5:8).  And nothing can separate you from that love. (Romans 8:39) Nothing you have ever done and nothing you ever do will change His love for you.

UNCONDITIONALLY LOVED- is your Identity!

Daily Reminder

You don’t have to work to be Unconditionally Loved, you already are Unconditionally Loved because Christ gave you a new identity. His identity. This is who you are because of who He is, not who you have to try to become.

– Religion tells us what to do to become, which equals self reliance – the focus is on self.

– The truth of the Gospel tells us who we are because of who Jesus is and what He did – the focus is on Jesus.

Good News  – Our Father in heaven is pleased with you because of what Jesus did – it all hinges on Him not us.

We are in union with Christ (1 Corinthians 6:17). When our Daddy in heaven looks at you, He sees Jesus, and He is nothing but pleased. (Matthew 3:17)

Rest in Him today!

Loving Father,

Thank You for loving me unconditionally. It’s a love that my human brain cannot fully comprehend, but I thank You. Help me to understand more of this inconceivable love every day. Today, I will rest in knowing that because of Jesus, there is nothing I can do, or not do, to change Your love for me. Thank You Jesus!

I long for people, believers and unbelievers alike, to understand the Truth - the uncensored, un-manipulated Truth of the Gospel. Because of the blood of Jesus, the Life He gave on the Cross, we are unconditionally loved by the Father and once we place our faith in Jesus, we are forever in right standing with God. It is the power of the finished work of the Cross. I am in awe and live to proclaim- Thank You Jesus! Come along with me as we Journey to Grace Land!
